Yesterday Vitalik posted about a curation-style creator platform idea, and while it seems like a complicated solution, his idea will likely prove directionally correct in the not so distant future.
Every major social media platform optimizes for popularity contests over quality content creation.
There has to be an opportunity in an alternative approach.
I dunno if it's the algorithm that got so bad or the people I follow all got sidetracked at the same time.
I can scroll my feed (even Following tab) and see zero posts that are interesting enough to react to.
Everything is moltboook/moltbot (which is an absolute slop imo, nothing I see about it looks even remotely interesting), "omg everything crashed again" posts, Eps files, of course, and the long tail of topics I can't even remember to give an example of.
I mean I don't wanna sound like an old person yelling at clouds but can I see ONE post out of a hundred that would be NOT about these topics? The fact that most people I follow caught into that is the most disappointing (or maybe the algo is so broken it demotes all other posts from that tab too).
I used to treat my Following tab as a source I don't have to filter but I guess now I should start doing that too...
But it just sounds surreal to me that in 2k26 I have to put actual work to be slightly entertained on social media, to the point when I feel I better put my time into anything else.
Am I the only one having that experience?
